Mister Roberto Mancini is not only a great football expert but also a true Richard Mille, and more in general watches, enthusiast. Today ItalianWatchSpotter will discover the new Richard Mille RM 11-04 Roberto Mancini, designed in collaboration with Italian National team’s coach.
We have just began the new year and in our minds we are already thinking about the events not to be missed in this 2020. One in particular will attract the attention of every sports fan: the UEFA Euro 2020 European Football Championship. Italy and mister Mancini’s national team will be the absolute protagonist of this event, as Rome will host the inaugural competition of the tournament on June 12th.
The Italian national team, with 10 games won out of 10, deservedly qualified thanks to the splendid work done by the Coach. Roberto Mancini, in fact, has given a new identity to the team, after the immense disappointment given by the failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Dedicated to football
This is not the first time that Mancini and Richard Mille have worked side by side to produce a watch.
Already in 2013, Mille presented the RM 11-01, which featured innovations designed specifically for time management during football matches.
At first glance the two watches might look very similar, making you think exclusively of an aesthetic makeover, but, if you take a closer look, there are many innovations made.
The RM 11-04, like the 01, are two chronographs dedicated exclusively to football.
Richard Mille has created a totally different product from what the market offers today.
There are no chronographs that allow you to read with precision and ease the duration of a game, including overtime and extra-time.
All is made possible by the Flyback chronograph, and the counters on the dial that are only two, to make it more intuitive to read.
The largest, positioned in the center of the dial, indicates, through two different hands, the minute of play (green and white hand) and seconds (hand with red tip). The pusher at 2 o’clock allows the chronograph to start, while the pusher at 4 o’clock allows the chronograph to restart without the need to stop it.
On the dial, extra time is indicated in red, fundamental indication for a coach, as they almost never appear on the stadium boards.
The watch is also an annual calendar, as the date at 12 o’clock is scheduled according to the normal distribution of days over months.
There are many innovations made by Richard Mille to this new model: from caliber to colors, everything has been revisited and improved.
Starting from the movement, the more modern and efficient RMAC3 caliber replaced the RMAC1, but retained the same complications as the previous model. This new caliber greatly improves performance as the weight-to-strength ratio is reduced and guarantees up to 55 hours of power reserve.
An innovaion that immediately pops to the eye is the case material: from titanium we have switched to the use of carbon TPT (an overlap of about 600 very thin layers of carbon), a material that guarantees at the same time strength and even more lightness. The new coloration stands out also to the less experienced.
Given the collaboration with Coach Mancini, the colors chosen are those of our tricolor and the Savoy blue, used for the national team jerseys.
The Richard Mille RM 11-04 Roberto Mancini ‘s crown has also undergone a major makeover, which is now on par with those on RM 11-03. Both aesthetically and functionally, the double rubber ensures better grip to the fingers when adjusting the watch.
A new life…
This RM 11-04 gives new impetus to a model that was now pretty obsolete and far from the brand’s philosophy of technological innovation.
For its characteristics, this model remains a very interesting and particular watch, also given the solid bond Richard Mille created with our national football team and Coach Roberto Mancini.
